January 29, 2022
Ann Rubenstein, 84, of Delray Beach, FL, passed away on January 29, 2022 after a brief illness. Ann was born on August 18, 1937 and her parents were Harry and Frances Brostoff in Chicago, IL. She attended The National College of Education and then worked as an Elementary teacher at the Jenner School in the Near North Side of Chicago. In 1965 she met her husband Bert Rubenstein in Chicago, who she married shortly thereafter. They were married for 52 years, until his passing in 2018. After Ann and Bert moved to Philadelphia, she spent much of her time raising their three children. She also taught arts and craft classes to other stay at home mothers, and eventually started playing competitive Bridge where she earned the Life Master designation. She spent her summers in Margate, NJ and loved going to the beach and casinos. As her children moved on to start their families, Ann’s creative spirit drove her to start a candy making business, Ask Annie, creating chocolate designs for hundreds of weddings and events. Ann is survived by her sons Gene (Nancy), David (Alison) and Scott (Mandy). She is also survived by her brother Alan Brostoff (Phyllis), and grandchildren Heidi, Dana, Matthew, Max, Andrew and Willow. The family will be holding a private service and burial. Those wishing to honor Ann’s memory with a memorial contribution are asked to consider donating to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation at https://crohnscolitisfoundation.org.
