Fran and Michael,
There are no words to express how saddened I am to know that I will never see Bea again. I will always treasure my memories of her and the time I was lucky enough to spend with her. She has and will always remain in my heart as "sweet Bea", a warm, kind, lovely woman with an adorable laugh. Bea was a loving wife to her late husband, David and a devoted mother to Fran and Michael.
I would like to share a story about Bea. Years ago there was a snow storm in NY, the mayor at the time decided not to prepare for the storm and NY was hit with the full force of mother nature. Trains stopped running, roads were closed, etc.. I was working in Manhattan and lived in Queens and could not get home. The only place I could get to was my friend, Fran's house, but in order to get there I had to walk miles from a train station to her house wearing a skirt and three inch heals, needless to say by the time I got to Fran's house I was frozen. Bea quickly took care of me by giving me something warm to drink, sitting my by her oven [which she turned on to give me warmth] as she rubbed my legs and feet back to life. I am convinced that she saved me from loosing toes or possibly more than that. I mentioned this to Bea not that long ago and she didn't remember what she did for me that day. It came so natural to her to just help when needed.
Fran & Michael you were blessed to have Bea as your mother and she was just as blessed to have both of you.
My sincerest and deepest sympathy to Fran, Michael & Raquel and their family.
