I only just learned of Mike's passing. My sympathies and condolences to Arline and his family. Mike was good friend. Always ready with a joke, advice, or help whenever needed. I'll miss him.
I have many memories of Mike, my father. (Genetic testing was performed.) Most of them aren't so good, and the rest are worse. How a man can carelessly create a child, even on the side, and just abandoned it, leave it to no one capable of raising it or caring for it, then feed countless lies to it over the years, and then break the only promise he ever made to it, are incomprehensible and reprehensible. I believed all of my life, from a tiny age and until now, that while he and I still breathed air that a chance remainded that God or his conscience would speak to him and he would do right by me. But now, here he is, dead, without a single acknowledgement of my existence. Hope is what I'd always had for my father, but that hope died with him. Good riddance to them both.
