June 22, 1933 - March 10, 2022
Neal Burton Cohen, affectionately known as Mickey, of Delray Beach, Florida, previously of Philadelphia (Flourtown), Pennsylvania) and Brooklyn, New York, passed away on March 10, 2022. He lived a full life passing away a few weeks shy of his 89th birthday, which he would have celebrated this June. He will be terribly missed by his wonderful wife Lillian, who was his cherished partner for 62 years as well as many friends and family. He was the son of the late Louis and Frances Cohen from Brooklyn, NY. A brilliant, accomplished and talented soul and an engineer, Mickey was a man ahead of his time. He lived a life of accomplishment but his and Lil’s most important one was raising two remarkable children -Kimberly and Brett. He was the father-in-law to Kim’s husband, Howard Brown and Brett’s wife, Phebe. He is was also the proud grandfather of Brett and Phebe’s children Evan, Grace and Zoe. Born in Brooklyn in 1933, Mickey was educated at Community College of New York, and received his Masters of Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a professional engineer and worked for almost 60 years as a director of research and development for many leading US companies. He was responsible for inventing a number of widely used products in the marketplace and held many patents for his innovative work. Though his employees often called him ‘nothing short of a genius’, his pride and joy was his famlly. He travelled the world both professionally and with family to many unique adventures from Spain to Alaska, from China to Hawaii. He had a curious mind and was always interested in learning. He and Lillian moved to the Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach, Florida six years ago where he was an active participant in the community. He was an active golfer and fan of the Philadelphia Eagles till the end. He has left a legacy as a kind, generous, modest and hard-working man dedicated to famliy and friends. He kept in touch with family, friends and former colleagues to his final days. Everyone would agree that we lost one of the good ones in Mickey Cohen.
