Roger Elie Bukszpan
January 17, 1946 - June 25, 2021
Roger Elie Bukszpan, beloved husband of fifty years of Maxine, loving father of David and Amy, and cherished brother of Albert, passed away at age 75 at his home in Pompano Beach on Friday, June 25, 2021. Roger was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and moved to New York at age 12. After enrolling in the army, he was stationed in Germany, where he became a writer and photographer for The Stars and Stripes. After his service, he returned to New York, where he met and married Maxine and, like her, became a New York City public school teacher. During his long career as a French teacher, “Monsieur B” was loved by his students in Harlem and the Bronx. Roger made friends easily—he was always quick with a joke or to exchange words with anyone he met in their native French, Spanish, or even some Italian or Arabic—and the friends he made he kept. Along with those many friends, his wife, his children, his brother, and his extended family will keep him in their hearts, as he did them. Services will be held at 12:15pm on Sunday, June 27th, 2021, at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach Florida, 33437, followed by interment at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, Florida 33437. Photos, videos, and written tributes can be uploaded to this website (www.bethisraelchapel.com). Those wishing to honor Roger with a memorial contribution are kindly asked to consider Dance Against Cancer (www.dacny.org).
