A message from Nora's Nephew speaking on behalf of Justin Alexa and Brandon
I’m still in shock and trying to wrap my head around the fact that Aunt Nora is no longer with us. She was taken far too soon, and it’s difficult to find the right words for someone who held such a special place in our family.
Aunt Nora was warm, kind, driven, headstrong, and truly tough as nails. She was a breast cancer survivor, and we all admired her strength and perseverance. When my mother went through chemotherapy, Aunt Nora’s example meant so much. She showed my mother that it was possible to fight, endure, and keep going. She was not only her older and only sister, but also a source of support, companionship, and true sisterhood. I will always be grateful for the way she cared for my mother, as only a big sister can.
We also deeply admired the way Aunt Nora cared for my grandparents toward the end of their lives. She was constantly visiting them in the nursing home and making sure they were not alone. She showed tremendous kibbud av va’em—honor and devotion to one’s parents—not only through words, but through her actions. That devotion said so much about her character.
She was also just a really cool aunt. Even though she was older than my mom, she somehow always stayed connected and up to date. She kept track of what was happening in our lives through my mother and knew about our milestones and growth. Even when we weren’t regularly in touch, she remembered birthdays, Father’s Day, and found ways to let me know she was thinking of me. She cared, and we felt it.
Some of my strongest memories of Aunt Nora are Thanksgiving at her home. Hosting Thanksgiving was her thing. As a child, I remember the long drive from Long Island to New Jersey, the brutal traffic, and sometimes wondering why we did it every year.
Now that I’m older, I understand.
We made that drive because it brought our family together. Aunt Nora created a tradition that gave me, my brother, and my sister memories and bonds that have stayed with us. Thanksgiving never quite felt like Thanksgiving without being at Aunt Nora’s, with the turkey, the stuffing, and everyone together.
To Uncle Jeff, Randi, Stephanie, and my mother, I’m deeply sorry for your loss, and I’m grateful to you for sharing Aunt Nora with all of us.
Her memory remains alive in me and in our family. I hope we honor her by cherishing the time we have with those we love, staying connected, and never taking that time for granted. Our time together is limited, but the love and memories we create can remain with us forever.
Aunt Nora, we will miss your kindness, strength, and warmth. You will always have our love, our gratitude, and our admiration.
Shocking news. Although I have not seen Nora in years, I have fond memories of visits with cousins Nora and Irene and Aunt Ruthie and Uncle Bernie. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Our beloved aunt… she lit up every room with her warmth and kindness. She shared in every joy of our lives with her hugs and bright smile. She is someone I will always admire for her strength, compassion and love for family.

I met Nora while subbing in her weekly Mah Jong games. She was a warm and friendly person whose smile could light up a room. May the memories of her life comfort Jeff and their families. She will be missed.
