Aaron David Simon's Obituary
Aaron David Simon unexpectedly passed away on Friday, January 30th at the age of 87.
He was born on February 27th, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph and Thelma Simon.
Aaron attended Central High School and Temple University, both in Philadelphia. Soon after, he joined the family’s installment business. Aaron proceeded to have a long career in retail managing large department stores for J.M. Fields and Bradlees in South Jersey by the Shore, where they raised their three sons. Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, silliness, a healthy dose of sarcasm, and a beautiful example of how to live and navigate life.
In addition to his family, he took great joy in The Philadelphia Eagles, a good movie or show, and the enjoyment of food—every kind. Aaron was also an avid and formidable Bridge player, rising to the notable rank of Life Master.
As he moved into retirement he embraced his love for Bridge even more by becoming a beloved and highly regarded Bridge Director to hundreds of people in many communities in the South Florida area. His incredible mastery of the game and patient, good natured demeanor enhanced everyone’s experience around him.
Aaron lived a life defined by love, integrity, dedication, and quiet strength. He was a man who filled the room with happiness, and was always ready to show up for his family, his friends, and anyone who needed a helping hand. Above all, he cherished his family and took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather.
He will be remembered for his happy demeanor, responsible nature, being a friend to all, having a smart sharp mind, strong work ethic, the gift to quickly forget anything bad, and the many funny stories with him, and yes, about him, which were all embraced as a badge of his good nature. He was truly one of kind.
Aaron is survived by his loving wife Linda, whom he celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage.
Aaron was a proud Father and Father-In-Law to Jeffrey and Michele Simon; Kenny and Amy Simon; and Tony and Lisa Simon. He was a joyful, doting, funny, Zaide to Steven (Nataly), Natalie, Rachel, Jessica, Julia, Hannah, and Jason, who brought him endless happiness and pride, and a loving uncle to his nieces Judi Christine Drake and Candi (Marty) Pezzner. He was preceded in death by Judi’s husband, Eric and his sister Renee (George) Christine.
He will be deeply missed. Smile when you think of Aaron, which is exactly how he would love to be remembered.
A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd at 11:00am at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 1115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437, followed by a burial at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 FL-7, Boynton Beach, FL 33473.
