Abbe Schimmel's Obituary
Abbe Schimmel, 83, of the Wycliffe Country Club in Wellington, Florida passed away Sunday January 22, 2017. Abbe was a lifelong educator and loved to knit and teach knitting. She was an ardent member and Keeper of the Gate of Hadassah, as well as a supporter of numerous charities. Abbe love the opera, and was trained as an opera singer as a young woman. Abbe leaves her beloved husband of 62 years, Arnold Schimmel; her devoted and loving children, Stuart Schimmel and Risa (Sherman) Shwartz; cherished grandchildren Jason, Alexandra, and Kaitlin; and dear sister Isabel (David) Neuman. One of Abbe’s favorite sayings was “Walk in with your right foot, kiss the mezuzah, and put a brendle in your bra”.
Chapel services are 1:45PM on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 West Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida 33484. Entombment to follow at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach. Those wishing to make a contribution in Abbe’s memory are asked to kindly consider the Hadassah organization.
