Adele Sholk's Obituary
Adele Sholk was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend
during her incredible 89 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the evening hours of
Saturday, July 27, 2024. We will remember Adele for her deep love and dedication for her
family, her love of shopping, and playing cards with friends, especially canasta.
Adele had a long and full life. She was born on September 10, 1934 and raised in
Brooklyn, New York to two loving parents, Morris and Esther Greenbaum. Adele had an older
brother Joseph, an older sister Gloria, and a twin sister, Florence. She attended Thomas Jefferson
high school.
Adele stayed in Brooklyn until she met the love of her life, Arthur Sholk at the White
Roe Hotel in the Catskills. Arthur was working as a tennis pro, and there they shared their first
dance. They were married on October 2, 1954 and celebrated almost 70 years of marriage.
Following the wedding, Adele and Arthur moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma while Aruther served in
the military. They then moved to New Jersey and had three beautiful children, Helene, Howard,
and Lori. Adele was a devoted homemaker, and always supportive of her children. Once her
children grew, she found another calling and opened the Beauty Bazaar, a place to share her
passion.
As her children began to have children, Adele attended her grandchildren’s dance recitals,
graduations, sporting events, weddings, and every one of their bar and bat mitzvot. She traveled
to see her great grandchildren and attend their baby naming ceremonies. She enjoyed
Thanksgiving each year with family, shared her phenomenal brisket, mandel bread, broccoli
noodle pudding, and matzo ball soup recipes with them, and despite geographical distance, she
talked to them daily.
She is preceded in death by her son, Howard Sholk, her parents and her older siblings,
Gloria and Joseph who she held close in her heart. She is survived by her husband Arthur Sholk,
daughters Helene Manoian and Lori Riley, grandchildren Josh Manoian, Jessica Giuliano, Sarah
Mock, Evan Riley, and Jordan Riley, and great grandchildren Arianna Manoian and Sebastian
and Zachary Giuliano.
We will miss Adele dearly. We cherished the ability to share all moments, big and small,
with her and to hear her voice cheering us on. A memorial service will be held at Beth Israel
Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach early next week. Streaming options will be available with
more details to come. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Trustbridge-Hopsice of Palm Beach County, https://trustbridge.com for their dedication and care
