Alan Mathews' Obituary
Alan Mathews, 73, of Citrus Glen in Boynton Beach passed away on Monday August 21, 2017. Alan was a Sargent with Miami-Dade Corrections for 20 years until his retirement in September of 2001, where he was known by his nickname “Superman”. A life-long body builder, Alan was a former “Mr. South Florida Over 35 Years Old”, and was a First Place finisher in the “Mr. Palm Beach Over 60” body building competition. Alan was married to his beloved wife Elaine for more than 50 years until her passing in 2015. He leaves his father Herman, his devoted sons Ryan (Ronni) Mathews and Brian (Shane Griffis) Mathews; cherished grandchildren Madison and Tyler; and dear sister Sandi Thrasher. Services will be held at 12:15 PM on Friday August 25, 2017 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Rd., Boynton Beach, Florida followed by interment in Eternal Light Memorial Gardens. The family suggests to those wishing to honor Alan with a memorial contribution to kindly consider the American Cancer Society, 235 S County Rd #20, Palm Beach, FL 33480.
