My husband and I opened a professional business in 1979. We really had no idea how to run it. We were lucky to already have Alan as our accountant doing our taxes. We consulted with him, and he led us through the various stages of running our business successfully until we sold recently. Whenever we didn't know what to do, we called him
and he gave us great advice. If he didn't know (very seldom) he'd find out. He was our accountant, our friend, our mentor.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and usually had a joke to exchange with everyone. We were busy, he was busy, but we found time to communicate and become friends with Alan and Gail for well over 40 years. Both of them were committed to their family and their clients and Alan did his absolute best to be there for everyone.
Alan often told me how much he loved his work. It was such a big part of him. I think he just liked seeing all the numbers come together--it seemed to make him satisfied. He was always on top of everything and we could rely on him completely. He has left a huge hole in many lives but we personally will never forget his kindness and his friendship toward us.
It's so hard for us to say goodbye, but rest well, Alan. You've earned it.
Love and peace to Gail and the family.
