I refereed many football (soccer) games with Amos in Memphis back in the day and shared a drink in the bar afterwards. I recall that day we toasted the great Bobby Moore when we heard he had died. I decided to look Amos up online recently, only to find his obituary. Sad to see my old friend has passed on, but I have great memories and always remember how he would ref the entire game with the whistle hanging from his mouth - against all the assessors diatribes.
