Andrew Jay Friedman's Obituary
Andrew Jay Friedman, 69, passed away on May 2nd in Boca Raton, Florida after a courageous battle with lymphoma.
Born in the Bronx, New York to Merna and Arnold Friedman, Andrew grew up in Rockaway Beach, NY and was a graduate of SUNY New Paltz, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He built a life defined by dedication to his family and friends, his work in the paper business, and the relationships he cultivated along the way.
Andrew is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Florie Friedman; his children, Danielle Malchi and her husband, Yoni; Lisa Stern and her husband, Dan; and Jon Friedman and his wife Christine; and his cherished grandchildren, Anna, Julia, Eric, Nathan, Evie, and Leo. He was deeply devoted to his family and found his greatest joy in the time he spent with them.
He had a passion for cycling, racquetball, hiking, and great food, and was an avid New York Rangers hockey fan. Andrew stayed close with friends both near and far, and developed strong relationships that lasted a lifetime. He took pride in raising a Jewish family and valued tradition, connection, and community.
Known for his positive, glass-half-full outlook, Andrew lived life to the fullest. He was funny, upbeat, and deeply empathetic, always believing in the power of small acts of kindness to uplift others. Andrew enjoyed a good laugh and knew how to share that with others. His funny stories, teasing, and unique style of humor will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Delray Beach, Florida on Wednesday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, Florida.
