Anita Levin-Epstein's Obituary
Born Anita Mestel in Queens, New York in 1928, Anita was the daughter of Jewish immigrants who escaped Hitler’s terror in Europe. Her mother Ruth Feld was from Austria and her father emigrated from Poland.
Anita grew up in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens and lived with the debilitating effects of Polio. Nevertheless she overcame all obstacles and had a successful nursing career, a wonderful loving husband and two sons Jonathan and Jeffrey. She married Dr. Ralph H. Levin-Epstein and settled in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Anita was very active in the Jewish community both locally with her synagogue and nationally as a life member of Hadassah.
Anita had a very strong will to succeed in everything she did. Anita and her husband Ralph moved to Palm Beach, Florida in 1976 and later moved to Boca Raton, Florida where they lived for the rest of their lives. Anita and her husband were both avid bridge players, golfers and loved the theatre, especially the opera.
Anita is survived by her son Jonathan and daughter-in-law Sheila Mulholland and grand daughter Sydney Rachael Levin-Epstein.
Anita’s loving support and inner strength is the beautiful legacy that she has passed onto her children.
We give a special thanks to her loving caregivers, Vilma Parigi and Esnet Francis for the tremendous care they gave over the last several years, as well Trustbridge hospice of West Palm Beach.
Donations can be made to Hadassah or Congregation Sons of Zion in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
