ARLENE GORDON's Obituary
Arlene Gordon (nee Saunders) of West Palm Beach passed away peacefully on December 21, 2020.
She was the loving mother of Stacy Lynn Daniels and Shari Alexios; grandmother of Kameryn Shadden (Chrystopher), Matthew Gordon, Katherine Gordon, Rebecca Michalski, Sean Duncan, Abigayle Michalski; Mother-in-Law of Dawn Gordon and Michael Alexios; sister of Larry Saunders and his family Paula, Caryn, Marcie, Erin; great-grandmother of Maggie Ruth. Arlene is also preceded by her beloved son, Scott Leslie Gordon.
Arlene was born in Brooklyn New York, graduated from New Utrecht High School, and attended to Brooklyn College. She was resident of Palm Beach Gardens since 1972, an active member in the community and a founding member of Temple Beth David in Palm Beach Gardens.
She had an immense love for her children and grandchildren and was a friend to many in the community. Arlene’s love of animals, particularly of dogs, was well known and she was active in the Dog Show community as a young woman. Prior to 1972 she was the proud owner and breeder of Champion dogs and sires which included Dobermans, Silky Terriers and Greyhounds. She was an expert handler and breeder, and her famous Doberman Sires continue to be included in published dog books.
Arlene’s career in the property management industry spanned over 35 years in Palm Beach County. Before retirement, she was the Clubhouse Manager at Huntington Lakes in Delray Beach where she held this position for over two decades and was respected and loved by the residents. Her keen eye for detail was demonstrated in the décor of the clubhouse, her love of quality theatrical performances allowed her to book the best shows available, and her keen accounting acumen provided her much loved residents with a top-notch place to gather and enjoy time together in a beautiful environment, always under budget. Arlene was a no-nonsense business manager, respected and valued by those she was entrusted to serve. She made sure her place was the place to be!
In later years, Arlene’s passion for the Arts led her to take Ballroom Dance Lessons, which she excelled at. She was an award-winning Ballroom Dancer and earned several top places in the Senior Division across various categories in National Ballroom Competitions in New Orleans, Las Vegas and locally.
Arlene’s love of fashion was her hallmark, and she was always well attired in the latest up to date fashion. She never left the house without adding a personal touch to her attire, be it a scarf or special statement accessory. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and red was her statement color. A lifelong
Democrat, and active in the election process as a poll worker, Arlene was engaged in the political process and encouraged her family to also be engaged. Though the last few years of political unrest politics gave her much heartache, she is at rest knowing that a new president will be in office.
She will be remembered as a strong businesswoman, who dedicated her life to the love of family, animals, her country, and community
