Arthur H. Bowen's Obituary
Arthur Bowen of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Brooklyn and Long Island passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Dear husband of the late Zelda Bowen, wife of 70 years. Beloved father of Bonnie Bowen and Scott Bowen and the late Sherry Berman Robinson. Cherished grandfather of Alex, Melissa, Taylor and Rachel. Adored brother of Julie Bowen. Arthur was a World War II veteran who served in Patton’s army. He was a dedicated teacher and advocate for disadvantaged children who needed a role model. He served his community with passion and pride, bringing service and joy to all events he led or participated in, often doing the little things behind the scenes. With his motto of “It is never too late to get in shape”, Arthur began his running career at the age of 50 and by age 78, he had completed 33 marathons, many times in the top 3 spots. Funeral services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel at 1115 Jog Road on Monday, November 18 at 9 AM with interment at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth following. The family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
