ARTHUR ALBERT PHILLIPS's Obituary
Arthur A. Phillips, 90, born in Kansas City, MO, loving husband and best friend of Marilyn (Schechter) Phillips for 61 years. Father of Susan Phillips and David (Valerie) Phillips. Grandfather of Julia and Leo Phillips. Brother of Carole Patis. Proud Eagle Scout, attaining Order of the Arrow. He served in Germany as Chaplain's Assistant, then Acting Chaplain, with the Army of the Occupation from 1954-1956, where he made life-long friendships. He was an attorney for 45 years in Chicago, and was president of the Illinois Workers' Compensation Lawyers Assn., and also president of the Northwest Property Owners Assn. in Skokie, IL. He served on the governing boards of two Reform temples while in Skokie, before retiring to Boca Raton, FL. He volunteered to teach swimming to senior citizens in the community and formed many lasting friendships. He learned to play mandolin, banjo and violin; and played guitar and harmonica weekly with a banjo band, enjoying the camaraderie. His quick wit, warmth, and sense of humor will be sorely missed. In his memory, please contribute to your favorite charity, or to Temple Beth Shira, Boca Raton, or do a kind deed. Private Services will be held 12:30 PM on January 4, 2021 and please call Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, (561) 732-3000 for live Webcast login information.
