Eulogy for Ashlee Simone Lyons
Ashlee was our first granddaughter and we loved her dearly. We were so happy when she was born. She showed us how much joy a granddaughter could bring into our lives. She was such a beautiful child, always happy and laughing. She made friends easily and was a leader when she was young. We loved her dearly and she loved us. We are very thankful that she gave us three beautiful great-grandchildren, Jacob, David and Satori. We love them with all our hearts. She never missed calling us on special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. The last time we spoke to her was on Mother’s Day when she called to wish Simone a happy Mother’s Day. I will always miss the sound of her voice when she said on the phone “I love you, Granddad”. She is gone from this earth now, but she will never be gone from our hearts. Goodbye Ashlee. We will always love you and miss you.
My Dearest Ashlee,
From the time I was carrying you inside me, I couldn’t wait to meet
you. You were my introduction to motherhood. I fell in love with you at
first sight, and never knew how completely and unconditionally I could
love another human being until I had you. Your smile and laugh were
contagious and with your vivacious, outgoing personality you had the
ability to make friends wherever you went. I always admired your
artistic talents, the way that music touched your soul, your genuine
kindness towards others, your generosity and above all your free spirit.
The greatest gift that you gave our family was the blessing of your
three beautiful children, Jacob, David and Satori. For this, I will be
forever grateful.
Ashlee, although your time here with us was extremely short, you
were able to touch the hearts of many people. The incredible closeness
you shared for your entire life with your grandparents, Richard and
Simone Croft, gave you an additional source of unconditional love and
acceptance, and I know you loved them as much as anyone could ever love
a grandparent. Throughout your life your special neshama was always able
to shine through and therefore special people such as your Aunt Marcelle
and Uncle Mark Gershien and your amazing friend Hinda Langer were drawn
to you. Hashem always provided a loving presence when I could not be
there by your side.
Now you are forever free in the Garden of Gan Eden and at peace. I
will love you forever throughout eternity and pray for the coming of
Moshiach.
