Barbara Sue Harap Moss' Obituary
Barbara Sue Harap Moss entered this world on April 29, 1944, one year before the end of WWII in New York City, New York. She saw many transitions in life. Her parents, Ida Anger Harap and Seymour Harap, and her older brother, Harvey Harap, were overjoyed that a girl had entered the family. With Barbara’s passing on May 7, 2026, at the age of 82, that entire nuclear family of origin is now deceased. She is survived by her two sons, Kevin Moss and his wife Robin, and Michael Moss, as well as a beloved grandson Aaron Moss.
Barbara grew up with a strong sense of fashion and design. Her four year Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Design allowed her to become a fashion buyer for New York’s flagship Bloomingdale Department Store on 60th and Lexington in her 20’s and 30’s.
Barbara met her bashert, her Beloved, Alan Moss, an army veteran, on a ski trip. They had 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter who died very young.
The family moved to Boynton Beach Florida where Alan loved deep sea fishing and Barbara worked in marketing supplies for the restaurant business. But her love of fashion and design never wavered. She painted glassware, made one-of-a-kind clothes, embroidered paintings and made the world a more beautiful place her entire life.
Alan loved cats; she loved dogs, so their home became a haven for people and animal life.
With Alan’s death August 7, 2021 during the covid pandemic, Barbara moved into the Resnick Building Memory Care Unit at MorseLife where she was loved by the staff for her kindness, sweetness and love of arts and crafts.
Barbara’s last illness was quick, she had her first symptom, jaundice, on April 29, 2026, on her 82nd birthday. She went to JFK Hospital that day and received a diagnosis of metastatic pancreatic Cancer. She returned within a day to her home at MorseLife with a Hospice care team and passed away in her sleep 5 days later.
Her funeral will be at the Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach on Tuesday, May 12th at 12:15 pm. May her memory be a blessing for all. Please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Lieu of flowers.
