BARBARA L. RUTBERG's Obituary
Barbara L. Rutberg age 79 of West Palm Beach passed away on May 10th.
Beloved wife of Dr. Martin Rutberg; Loving mother of Bonnie (James) Keen;
Step-mother of Keren (Robert) Vishny, Barry (Jennifer) Rutberg, and John
(Jennifer) Rutberg; Cherished grandmother of Gabrielle and Molly; Stepgrandmother of Benjamin, David, Alexis, Megan, Jason, and Jasmine; Dear sister of Jacqueline Grover Klein. Barbara was born in New Haven, CT on May 23, 1941, the daughter of Harry and Kay (Glick) Levine.
Barbara was a graduate of Brandeis University and Boston College Law School. Throughout her legal career, she had many important roles in the service of her government and community. Upon graduation from law school,
Barbara became the assistant district attorney of Middlesex County,
Massachusetts. The governor later appointed her to chair the Department
of Public Utilities for the state. She later rounded out her career as a federal administrative law judge. Upon retiring to West Palm Beach, FL, Barbara became active in her new community, serving on the city’s ethics
committee and working closely with then-mayor Lois Frankel (now
Congresswoman Frankel). She also served on the grievance committee
for Ibis Golf and Country Club and was instrumental in establishing the fire and rescue station opposite Ibis. Barbara also served as the deputy chief of the Ibis Community Emergency Response Team. Her active and loving
spirit will be missed.
