My dear friend you will be forever missed and always in my thoughts so sad we never saw each other in so long bless you for being in my life xo
Barbara was a recent introduction into my life by another wonderful friend, Mary Neister. Although I had a brief interaction with Barbara, she made a lasting impression on me. She was generous, and jovial, and welcoming. I missed many an opportunity to just go and visit with her and Joyce, and now saddened, that I did not take that moment. Rest well, Barbara.
Dear Babs, My nickname for you.Sorry I’m unable to be with your family and friends today celebrating your life full of warmth and wisdom. You were “My Go To Gal!” You were the person whose advice I sort before I took any action. I will miss your counsel and friendship. There are so many wonderful memories that make me think of you Babs but two events stand out!Remember the night of December 7th, 1983 when I called you frantically about my condo being condemned due to an early afternoon fire? I had just returned from celebrating acceptance into my doctoral program. Although being in shock and being late at night, you told me you would pick me up and take care of everything. And, of course you did! Remember you took care of all the insurance issues. I didn’t need to do anything. You negotiated and took care of everything. Each night when I came back from my condo covered in ash, you would greet me with a cup of hot cocoa and a warm bubble bath. I was enveloped in the warmth of your friendship, kindness and wisdom. Without your care Babs, I might not have continued and completed my dissertation. I owe my degree to you!My next fondest memory pertains to your “theory of math”! It happened one weekend you were Manager on Duty at the Plaza Hotel. You asked me to keep you company that weekend. I, of course, accepted your offer and we spent a wonderful weekend tasting and testing every dessert the hotel kitchen had available. It was during this weekend, I learned exactly what you meant about a “NEW THEORY OF MATH”. You told me when you eat one dessert you have 100% of the calories but if you eat two desserts you only have 50% of the calories and so forth and so on”. Who was I to question YOU the Hotel Controller and math wiz!I love Bab’s “new math theory” and share it with everyone I know.To this day I’m still trying to shed those dessert pounds. I may have lost YOU BABS, my “Go To Gal”, but you are forever in my heart and will never be forgotten especially when I reach for that second dessert! Love you,Diana
Lance and I are so very saddened knowing of Barbara’s passing……such fond memories for us. Wish this sadness was not so.
