Barry Joel Glick's Obituary
Barry Glick, an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, leader and friend, died on June 21, 2021 in Boca Raton, FL after a battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.
Barry was the son of Robert and Rose Glick of Jackson, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Indiana, and true to his roots, he was also an avid fan of the University of Michigan.
He married the love of his life, Debby Karnowsky Glick, in 1975. They lived in Jackson for several years, and then relocated to Florida where they enjoyed a happy and vibrant life together.
From an early age Barry loved sports, especially bowling and golf, and could often be found on the links or the lanes practicing his game and meeting longtime and new friends. For 43 years he inspired teams at Alro Steel, founded by his uncle Al Glick and his father Robert Glick, and served as its Vice Chairman for 27 years. He was also a leader in the community, serving on the Boards of the American Cancer Society, Congregation B’nai Israel, the Temple Brotherhood, and the Metals Service Center Institute.
A loving father and grandfather, and a deeply cherished friend to many, he is remembered for his never-ending optimism, his humility, his integrity, his caring nature, and his unwavering devotion to family.
Barry is survived by his wife Debby Glick; his son, Aaron Glick; his daughter and son-in-law, Hilary and Dr. Aaron Dommu, and their two wonderful grandchildren; and siblings Carl (Denni) Glick, Sue (Rich) Weber, and Gary (Diane) Glick.
A memorial will take place on June 24, 2021 at 12:30pm at Congregation B’nai Israel, 2200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, FL.
