Beatrice Weisman Margolis' Obituary
Beatrice Weisman Margolis, 91, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Ellen in Salem, OR, on Tuesday, October 8th.
She was deeply loved by those who knew her, and she easily shared her love in return. “She never met a stranger” and was always interested in hearing about the lives of others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her family was always a priority and she demonstrated that by rarely missing an event or opportunity to be together, no matter how great the distance.
Bea was born to Max and Jennie Weisman in Bronx, NY on January 19, 1928. They moved to Harford where she met the love of her life, Moe, who was at her side for 46 years before his death in 1993.
While raising four children, Bea worked full time for 22 years as a paraprofessional for the Hartford Board of Education. At the same time, she worked diligently side by side with Moe to continue to grow the family business. Despite her time-consuming jobs, she never missed her children’s sporting events, recitals, or school functions. In addition, she always managed to have homemade family dinners on the table. In later years, she enjoyed giving as much attention to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to Moe, her sister, Mildred Kurtz, preceded her in death. She will be dearly missed by children Jerry and his wife Ellen; Ellen and her partner Susie; Fern (Shire) and her husband Jim; Craig and his wife Linda. Bea also leaves her sister Florence Shakun, and brother and sister-in-law Joel and Judy Weisman. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scott and his wife Kimberly; Rachel (Siegel) and her husband Jed; Madison; Olivia and Lily (Shire) and four great grandchildren Sadie, Ben, Tyler and Henry.
Bea will be buried next to her beloved Moe in Boynton Beach, FL on Thursday, October 17th at 10am. The family will be sitting shiva in West Hartford, Ct, and Chattanooga, TN on dates & times to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Foundation of America, or St. Jude Children’s Research in Memphis, TN.
