My wife, Estelle’s sister, I considered Bea my sister as well. As an only child, I enjoyed calling Bea “my older sister” because she was 2 months older than me. Whenever the 3 sisters got together–Mary first born, Bea the middle sister, and Estelle who the family called “the kleiner” Yiddish for youngest–I would take a picture. That’s before cellphone photos, so I can’t send any. We always knew when not to call, not before 10 because she might still be in bed; not after 12 because she might be shopping, out to lunch with friends or playing cards; 4 p.m. might be good but not after 5 because she might be out to dinner with friends before going to a show or a movie. Yes, she had a rich life and her memory surely will be a blessing.
