Bernard Baratz's Obituary
Dr. Bernard Baratz, 77, of Coral Lakes in Boynton Beach passed away Sunday March 4, 2018. Dr. Bernard Baratz holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Princeton University and has worked for 40 years addressing the environmental impacts of energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects. A World Bank staff member for almost 30 years, he was the first Europe and Central Asia Regional Safeguards Coordinator and one of the original authors of the World Bank policy for environmental assessment. Dr. Baratz has worked as an environmental specialist on disaster recovery and disaster management projects in China, Turkey, and Romania. At the time of his passing Bernard was an active consultant to both the World Bank where was a Senior Environmental Specialist and for the Asian Development Bank. He was a resident of Potomac, MD for many years and currently maintained a home in the Regency community in Monroe Township, NJ. Bernard was the beloved husband of Judith for 50 years; the devoted father of Alison Baratz and Bonnie Weinberg; the dear father-in-law of Ron Weinberg; and the adored grandfather of Alexis, Samantha, and Emily. Chapel services will be held at 9:15AM on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Rd., Boynton Beach, FL 33437 followed by interment in Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach.
