Bernard "Buddy" B. Seegull's Obituary
Bernard “Buddy” B. Seegull, 94, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep devotion to family.
Born on September 22, 1931, in the Bronx, New York, Buddy was the beloved son of Fae and Sidney Seegull, and brother of Edwin, all of whom predeceased him.
Buddy graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and continued his education at a community college in the Bronx, where he developed an interest in journalism. He later proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Buddy’s life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Cynthia (Hay), at a bungalow resort in Tamiment, Pennsylvania. Their connection was immediate—they became engaged just one month later. They were married on June 18th, 1961, and shared 58 beautiful years together until Cynthia’s passing in 2019 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Together, Buddy and Cynthia began their life in Roslyn, New York, before moving to Commack, New York, where they raised their three children: Bill, Richard and Linda. The home they built in Commack was filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories—a true center of family life.
Buddy worked as a toy salesman, a career perfectly suited to his personality. With his natural gift of gab, quick wit, and engaging charm, he built lasting relationships and brought joy to many throughout his life. Bud was an avid sports fan with a life long devotion to the New York Yankees and New York Rangers. In addition to sports, he enjoyed listening to music while doing the New York Times crossword puzzles -Big Band, Jazz and his favorite Frank Sinatra.
In 2003, Buddy and Cynthia retired to Lake Worth, Florida, where they enjoyed their later years together.
Buddy was a devoted and loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and brother-in-law. He was also a loyal and wonderful loyal friend to many. Known for his great sense of humor and his innate ability to make everyone feel welcome, Buddy left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cynthia, his brother in law Donald, his younger brother Edwin and his daughter-in-law, Jodi, Bill’s wife.
He is survived by his loving children, Bill, Richard and his wife Samantha, and Linda and her partner James; his cherished grandchildren, Ariel, Jesse, Rachel, and Patrick; and his adored great-grandchildren, Elijah and Ezra.
Buddy’s life was defined by the love he gave so freely and the connections he built so naturally. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
