Betsy Jane Male (née Shocket), 89, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Lantana, Florida.
Born on November 22, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, Betsy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Connecticut. Throughout her life, she had a deep love for people and never missed an opportunity to engage in conversation wherever she went. Her warmth and enthusiasm for connecting with others left a lasting impression on those who knew her, along with her strong sense of humor, wit and charm.
Betsy had a passion for shopping and was an avid bridge player. Beyond her personal interests, she dedicated time to volunteering at the local hospital and with Big Brothers and Sisters, demonstrating her commitment to helping others and giving back to her community.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Hanna (Tim) and Roxanne Male'-Brune (Carl); her grandchildren, Casey Hanna, Kelly Hanna, and Ryan Brune; her sister, Wendy Sorby (Bill); and her niece, Julie Silveria (Nicole). She was predeceased by her son, Peter Abrams and her husbands, Herbert Male and Harold Krause.
