Blanche Meisel's Obituary
Blanche Meisel, age 96 of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on November 29, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memories, her four beloved sons, Neil (Connie) Meisel, Myron (Carol) Meisel, Lee (Debbie) Meisel and Bob (Joanna) Meisel; and her loving grandchildren, Laura, Sascha, Zachary, Michael, Joshua, Daniel, Jason, Bryan, and Dean (Fern).
Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Philip and her grandson, Jacob.
Born in Chicago, Blanche received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois and master's credits from Montclair State College and the Women's League Institute.
She worked as a dietician, social worker, office manager, substitute teacher, and nutrition education lecturer for home health care providers. And along with all of that, she was an exceptional Jewish communal volunteer and philanthropist, dedicating herself to 66 continuous years of service to the Conservative/ Masorti Movement and to the Women's League.
After moving from Las Vegas, Blanche was a member of the JTS Religious Leadership Advisory Board since 1999. At JTS she was awarded the National Community Leadership Award in 1985, and together with her late husband, they established the Blanche and Philip (z"l) Meisel Fellowships for one student each from four JTS schools. Blanche was also a lifetime honorary member of the Women's League Board of Directors.
In Israel she was a board member of the Schechter Institute and funded two Tali programs. She was a supporter of the Weitzman Institute, Hadassah, the Jewish Family Service, and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. Blanche is listed in Who's Who of American Women. She also volunteered as a docent, volunteer coordinator, and a board member for the Las Vegas Art Museum.
Blanche was a member of B'nai Torah in Boca Raton. She is the mother of four children and grandmother of ten.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 12:15pm, at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 West Atlantic Blvd Delray Beach, FL 33484, with Burial to follow at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL 33473.
