Carole Wilk's Obituary
Carole Wilk (nee Goldman) of Delray Beach, FL, was 85 years old when she passed away on July 18, 2022. Her daughters were by her side.
Carole was born on June 18, 1937 in Boston. She grew up in Albany, NY. Carole loved singing since she was a young girl. She put on shows with other kids in her neighborhood, using the backyard shed as her stage. Her stage name was “Kitty.” And Kitty Goldman actually sang on the radio! She graduated from Albany High school in 1955. Four years later in 1959, she married a nice Jewish boy named Donald. Shortly thereafter, she and her husband moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she enjoyed being a homemaker, and eventually a mom. She had her first daughter, Robyn, while there. She moved back east to Syracuse, NY so Donald could work on his PhD in Pharmacology. While in Syracuse, she worked as a bookkeeper and gave birth to her second daughter, Sheryl. After Don received his PhD, the family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Carole embarked on a new career as a real estate agent. She was a million dollar producer. But even more impressive was that she truly cared about her clients. She just wanted to help people find the home of their dreams. Eventually, she helped her husband launch a new business called University Learning Systems. The company was formed to help medical professionals earn continuing education credit. Eventually, the seminars were taught in vacation spots like on cruise ships and Las Vegas, which
was Carole’s favorite place on earth. She moved to South Florida in 1985 where she continued to work with her husband. When she retired, she enjoyed traveling and playing Mahjong and canasta. Her passion though, was performing and singing on stage. She was in Chicago, Gypsy, and Fiddler on the Roof with the Chicken Coop Theater at the Sandler Jewish Community Center in Boca. In Valencia Palms, the highlight of her performing career was as “Mama” in Bye Bye Birdie. She sang “A Mother Doesn’t Matter Anymore” and brought the house down. She was also in Anything Goes, and in many other “non-book” musical reviews. She also enjoyed performing in the club, “Radio Daze.” During the past several years, her “happy place” was performing at the Weisman Center of Delray, with her husband and daughter, and the rest of the team there. She was one talented lady who used her gift to make other people happy. She also enjoyed a good game of Scattergories and Scrabble, forming words that were “valid” but not knowing what they meant. She certainly kept us laughing.
Carole is survived by Robyn Wilk of Boynton Beach and Sheryl Wilk of Lake Worth. She had one grandson with whom she had a very special relationship. Jonah loved his Nana. Mom, you are in our hearts forever. We love you and miss you and can’t imagine life without you.
