Christopher William Albert Macey's Obituary
In Loving Memory of
Christopher William Albert Macey
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher William Albert Macey, affectionately known as Chris, Dad, and Abba, on August 3, 2026, at the age of 82.
Chris was born on January 21, 1944, in London, England. His life was one of curiosity, creativity, and unwavering devotion to his family. Throughout his life he called many places home, including Connecticut, Michigan, Syracuse, Miami, Boca Raton, and Deerfield Beach, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Christopher began his professional career as a professor at Michigan State University and the State University of New York at Syracuse University, where he inspired countless students through his love of learning and teaching. He later became a respected Landscape Architect / Regional Planner, dedicating his career to designing and planning parks, roadways, and communities that improved the lives of others. His work extended far beyond the United States, contributing to projects internationally and leaving a lasting mark on the landscapes and infrastructure of communities around the world.
Whether in the classroom or through his professional work, Christopher was a lifelong teacher who found joy in researching history, tracing his family’s genealogy, drawing, and sharing his knowledge with others.
His greatest joy, however, was his family. He treasured every moment spent together, whether sharing stories from years gone by, performing one of his signature magic tricks, or making everyone laugh with his wonderfully corny jokes. He loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing, watching the birds at his feeder, admiring a well-made knife or flashlight, or sketching and drawing. His wisdom, gentle guidance, and endless stories will remain cherished gifts to all who knew him.
Christopher is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne Macey; his daughter, Sarah Fineman, and her husband, Nick Fineman, along with their children, Natalie and Noah Fineman; and his son, David Macey, and his wife, Shari Macey, along with their children, Mack and Milo Macey.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, William and Lilian Macey; his sister, Pamela Helliwell; and his cherished granddaughter, Maya Macey, of blessed memory.
A funeral service will be held at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. Shiva will immediately follow at the home of Sarah and Nick Fineman, 10793 Santa Laguna Drive, Boca Raton, FL 33428.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Maya Macey Foundation in Christopher’s memory.

Christopher’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the countless memories he created with those around him. His wisdom, kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
