CHUCK WORKMAN's Obituary
We announce with saddened hearts the loss of Chuck Workman, of Wellington, Florida, who was not only a devoted husband, beloved father and a treasured grandfather, but also a generous friend, mentor and “pro” to all those in his life.
An iconic golfer and accomplished player on the Senior PGA Tour, Chuck’s story began in Fresh Meadows, New York, where he would sneak onto the Kissena Park Golf Course as a kid and teach himself the way of the course. A formidable athlete, Chuck was recruited to play ice hockey by the New York Rovers before turning his love affair with golf into a lifelong career, most notably as the pro at the Bethpage Black Course and most recently at Palm Beach National.
He was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need and to employ anyone who was on hard times, without ever expecting anything in return. He was an avid supporter of the Ronald McDonald House and the Special Olympics, causes to which he dedicated his time and efforts almost incognito, without any need for recognition.
Chuck will forever be remembered as an active athlete with “old school” values and impeccable elegant style, who lived life on his terms, to the fullest each and every day with an unforgettable smile and the happiest of laughs. He knew the meaning of loyalty and respect and imparted these qualities upon his family and friends, and for that, we are forever grateful.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Elyse, whom he cherished with his entire heart; mother-in-law, Matilda; his children, Scot, Ken and Janine; daughters-in-law, Donna and Theresa; sons-in-law, Mark and Chris; his grandchildren, KatyMae, Whitney, Craig, Alyssa, Finn and Bridget; and great-grandchildren Kayla, Andrew, Trevor and Cole. Chuck is preceded by his legendary and cherished parents, Katy and Charlie, and his beloved son, Craig.
A funeral will be held at 10 AM on Friday, January 11th, 2019 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel,11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437; 561-732-3000).
We wish him endless rounds of golf, with the greenest of fairways, countless holes-in-one and the sunniest of days spent with his loved ones who have teed off into the eternal before him. Donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Jewish National Fund, or Autism Speaks.
