Claire Joan Weiss' Obituary
Claire Joan (Fleischer) Weiss fought as hard as she could for 20 years to beat cancer, but she passed on in Delray Beach, Florida on November 21, 2021 at 3:44 am Eastern Standard Time. She was just short of 80 years old.
Claire, was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA on February 25, 1942 to Abraham "Al" Fleischer and Jean (Slater) Fleischer. She grew up in Brooklyn, but Abraham died when she was only three years old. She met her husband, Stanley Weiss, when she was only 13 years old. They dated for a few years and married when Claire was 16, Stan only 19. Alan was born a year later in 1959, and they had Richard in 1962. The young family moved to Los Angeles, California (following the Dodgers out to the West Coast) and settled in the growing San Fernando Valley.
One of Claire's jobs was to be the very first woman to work at a McDonalds and moved up to Swing Manager at McDonalds. Claire then spent 20 years as a Senior Secretary for New York Life Insurance Company. Claire and Stan went on to have one of the most amazing marriages in history, becoming Marriage Encounter Trainers, and the family all went camping together. Stan was a Jaycee, and became a Jaycee State of California Senator. Their social life and social calendar was always full indeed.
Claire and Stan moved to Denver with Richard and purchased their own business, The Pen Shop, and worked in the wholesale writing instruments (pens) business for the Intermountain West. Claire was vital and instrumental to the success of their company, and they prospered. Later in life, after retiring, she and her husband Stan moved to South Florida, Boca Raton, and lived in a small villa happily traveling the world. In her life, Claire learned how to SCUBA dive even though she couldn't really swim, and did over 100 dives with Stan by her side. They visited Europe, Japan, Australia, Central America, Tahiti, Hawaii, Victoria British Columbia, and many other places, seeing the world together. For a girl from Brooklyn, she said that she never thought she would do so much, see so much, and enjoy her life like she did.
She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Stanley Weiss, her sons Alan and Richard, her grandchildren Breanna Weiss, Benjamin Weiss, and Samuel Weiss, Robyn (Weiss) Wabindato, Jessica Weiss, and David Weiss as well as two great grandchildren, William and Hailey Wabindato. She is, and will be, missed by all that she touched in her almost 80 years of life.
