Daniel Itzler's Obituary
Daniel Itzler died on March 21, 2022, at the age of 92 at his home in FL with his family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Elese (Weinstein), his four children, Peter Itzler (Ellen), Janna Drucker(Michael), Jill Liberman (Stan), and Jesse Itzler, (Sara), eleven grandchildren: Keren, Jonathan, Adam, Gabriella, Tali, Hannah, Ryder, Lazer, Lincoln, Charlie and Tepper and five great grandchildren: Lennon, Marni, Nellie, Aria, and Lev. He is also survived by two sisters: Rita Press and Gloria Jackel. He was born in Brooklyn and moved to Roslyn Long Island to start and raise his family. Dan was affectionately called “Duddy” and touched many lives through his volunteering and chaplaincy work. He honorably served his country in the army and was a dedicated board member of his synagogue. Dan was an inventor and businessman, was awarded several patents and ran for City Council. He could often be heard laughing at his own jokes and playing the spoons at family gatherings, a talent he picked up in the army. At the age of eighty Dan took up art after visiting the Miro Museum in Europe on a family trip. With all his accomplishments and contributions, his proudest one by far was his family. He would openly boast about his children to anyone who would listen. Dan didn’t aspire to live a life of luxury or have fancy possessions. His family was his treasure. He could often be heard jokingly saying “we never had this on Ashford Street” when he was introduced to anything he felt was somewhat luxurious. He was consumed with kindness and was dedicated to helping others, whether he knew them or not, until his final days. He will be sorely missed. A graveside service will be held in New York, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Queens, NY.
