My friend and multi-talented artist, writer, poet and cook, David Wainland passed on August 6th. We were friends for over twenty years and we shared so many things in common. We both came from the Bronx, loved to talk about food and restaurants, writing and family. In one of our discussions he mentioned that he loved to eat breakfast and that led to us visiting every breakfast restaurant in N. Broward and Southern Palm Beach County. David would write reviews and I did my Empty Plates posts on Facebook. Our breakfast meetings expanded to include David’s grand-daughter Skylar, when available. We always had interesting conversations and laughs but we never discussed politics. Real friends are hard to come by and harder to lose. Memories will remain etched in my being. Here’s to you David, two over medium with well-done potatoes.
