My name is Aruna Rao-McCann and I am one of the many rehabilitation case managers whose path crossed with Ms. Krotenberg's. She was a mentor and a friend and was always there to listen to our challenging cases, provide solutions and above all, just listen to our side of the story.
She never berated us or raised her voice. She would calmly and patiently listen at the end of which her solutions were always reasonable and helpful.
Over the years, Deborah became more of a friend and we would spend time on the phone talking about family especially under the pandemic as she knew my loved ones were all around the world.
The year I presented her with baklava bought from Syrian refugees, she was so thankful and even wanted to return to box they came in so I could recycle them :).
Her passing has left a huge void in all of our lives - still hard to believe or come to terms with. She left us all with instructions on how to live our life as we strive to do the best in our jobs and duties. She was an inspiration to all and I will remain forever grateful that our paths crossed.
God Speed sweet spirit. May you always know how much you were loved and respected.
To her parents, sister and family, her friends and to Charlotte - my heart joins yours as you grieve an untimely and huge loss and celebrate her spirit.
