MILBERG, DIANE's Obituary

Diane D. Milberg, 91, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away on November 24, 2024. She is survived by her loving family, Mark (Lauren Sugarman) Milberg, Melinda (Philip Benjamin) Milberg, Susan (Larry Haydu) Milberg, and Patricia (Barry Weiner) Milberg-Weiner; loving grandchildren, Jessica (Adam Fleischer) Milberg-Haydu, Jason (Sarah Shoffner) Benjamin, Alex (Allison) Celka, Gregory and Kaila Lehr-Milberg; great-grandchildren, Arbor, Bastian and Samuel.

Diane grew up on a working farm in Wisconsin with a extended family, on this 365 acre land that had multiple dwellings for the families. She was the youngest of 5 siblings by a decade or so. The other 3 brothers and 1 sister are all deceased. When her sister Mildred was alive until she passed a few years ago, they talked often, and kept the strong family ties. By the time she was in her later teen years, she knew this farm life was not going to be long term for her. and she moved out from the farm to create the life she wanted pursuing a different life from rural Wisconsin. She worked and had resilience after some profound tragedies. She always had a deep dedication and passion for animals, and later when she met our father (Al), and they married in 1979 in Miami, FL, their bond grew together in caring for and loving animals.

It's impressive the degree Diane was committed to animal rights work and followed her heart in the direction of providing a loving caring home for a whole variety of dogs as she and our father created a loving and stable fostering home as parents for rescue dogs so they'd be safe until they were adopted. She always said Al won her heart over on their first date when their plans got interrupted by her acutely sick dog who needed to be taken to the Vet for urgent medical care, which he did with compassion and care. They had 2 dogs of their own, who they loved dearly as well.

The last piece to share is that Diane worked in a volunteer position as an animal rights advocate for organizations fighting for rights of animals who'd been mistreated by their dog owners. She gave money and time to push for animal rights and justice. She was generous in action and spirit. She and Al also shared a love of travel around the world and this was a great source of joy and happy times. They loved learning and seeing the beauty of new environments. Diane loved books and was a veracious reader all the time. She had a fascination for public television shows and loved talking with people about her strong ideals, values, ideas, and views about politics, social justice, and cultural interests, and people. She will be remembered with fondness for everything named here.

Graveside service on Friday, December 13th, 2024 at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Wellington, FL 33449.
