Dina A Lewis' Obituary
On Tuesday, May 26th Dina Lewis passed away peacefully in Boca Raton, FL after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Dina was born on May 20, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, to Jacob and Bessie Schachter, two immigrants who fled Eastern Europe and came to the United States through Ellis Island. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed traveling, golf, playing cards with her friends, relaxing with a book by the pool, and shopping – especially for shoes.
She worked most of her adult life at two psychiatric facilities in Long Island, NY, where she eventually settled with her family (jobs she loved). Since she lost her mother at too early an age to cancer, she was very active over the years in organizations that were dear to her heart: CancerCareÒ and The Paps CorpsÒ of South Florida.
Dina will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh.
She is survived by her husband Charles, her son Brett (Derek), her daughter Jill (Diego), her grandchildren Bianca and Lucas, her sister Eleanor and her nieces, Beth and Jodi.
Services will be held Monday, June 1st, 2020 at 10:45am at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel for the immediate family and will be streamed live. Rabbi Jonathan Kaplan will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association through her son’s fundraising page: http://act.alz.org/goto/brettmlewis.
The family will be observing a perioid of Shiva following the cemetary at:
