DONALD MARTIN GACHÉ's Obituary
Donald Gache, 79, who passed away on July 30 after a long bout with myeloma,
was a man of many interests, including business, public service, music, sports, and golf.
Although best remembered as one of the owner-developers of Villa Flora Estates in Boca
Raton, an early Palm Beach pioneer of successful cluster plan communities which now
proliferate the South Florida area, he grew up on San Marino Island in Miami Beach,
graduated from Miami Beach High in 1957, and received a bachelor’s degree from the
University of Miami, where he belonged to Alpha Epsilon Phi fraternity. Donald also
served for the police forces in the towns of Medley and Bal Harbour in Miami-Dade
County as a volunteer policeman, served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, and was a
Brother in the Golden Glades Masonic Lodge. Donald was also a Founder of Mount Sinai
Hospital in Miami Beach. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 36 years, sons Ronald,
a Palm Beach County attorney and resident of Delray Beach, Gregg, a resident of
Hollywood, Florida, stepdaughter, Patti Fox, granddaughter, Katie, a senior at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, and brother Peter Djonald of New York City.
Donations in his memory can be made to Palm Beach Area Chapter of The Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society, where Donald had served as past President.
