Donald Stone's Obituary
Don Stone was the son of Mary and Sam Stone of Akron. He attended King grade school, Buchtel High School, and graduated from Miami University in 1954. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959 as a navigator bombardier in the Tactical Air Command. He was a bombardier on the first American jet atomic bomber, the B-45.
Don joined IBM in 1960. He worked as an account representative through 1966 and achieved 7 100% clubs in that capacity. In 1967 he joined M&B Beverage Co. and served as owner and president unti his retirement in 1997.
Don was active in philanthropic activities. He helped fund the Robert T. Stone Respiratory Center at Akron Children's Hospital in honor of his brother, Dr. Bob Stone. He was a lifeling member of the Akron Jewish Center and active in Jewish charities. His hobbies included bridge and golf where he had 3 holes in one. His wife Marcia and he visited all the major league baseball parks and both were loyal Indian fans.
Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marcia, his children Pam Anderson and Jim Stone, his grandchildren Drew Anderson, Abby Anderson, Michelle Stone, and Claire Stone, daughter-in-law Lori Stone, and sister-in-law Rochelle Stone.
A chapel service will be held on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437. Burial will be at South Florida National Cemetery.
