It was my great, good fortune to get Doris as my secretary when I became a High School vice president at the UFT. She was the consummate, professional and the favored secretary of the highest UFT officers.
Doris was a wealth of information in so many areas especially our great union,
education and politics, "in house and out!" We worked together to forge the standards for the "school to work" and CTE mandates. Her direct support enabled dozens to become certified trade teachers and innovators.
Doris was also a lover of arts and music, laughter and good times. She loved to party and dance at our retreat weekend, training events. Her wonderful sense of humor made her a favorite with family and friends. How lucky I was to work with her when I really needed help and support and a sense of humor. I shall miss her and her many emails.
Let's celebrate Doris in our mind and heart.
