Edward Alan Lotstein's Obituary
Edward Alan Lotstein, a resident of Lake Worth, FL, died peacefully at his home on August 26,
2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 23, 1940 in Stamford, CT to Louis
and Esther Lotstein. After attending college in Sioux City Iowa, and service in the Army
Reserves, Ed embarked on a journey with the family wholesale food distribution business, the
Hartford Provision Company—a business initially established by his grandfather, Samuel
Lotstein. He dedicated his efforts at the New Britain office, working alongside his father, uncles,
and numerous cousins.
Ed's life took a joyous turn after meeting his beloved wife Marsha at a friend's wedding. Their
journey led them to West Hartford, CT, where they raised their children Debra and Seth. They
relocated to Florida full-time in 2005, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage last month in
their new home in Lake Worth, FL.
Ed's passions were abundant and diverse—photography, home improvement projects,
computers (including putting together an early HeathKit), tennis, golf, skiing, bicycling, and
model building, particularly ships and planes. He never truly outgrew his wish for a new toy as a
birthday or holiday present. Ed's affection extended to a menagerie of pets over the years,
including ducks, dogs, cats, fish, and birds.
Ed fostered many lifelong friendships- sharing years of parties, barbeques, and vacations. These
bonds continued as much of the group moved to Florida, where shoveling snow was a distant
memory. This circle of friends expanded further through his "new" friendships developed in
Florida.
Ed's memory is carried by his devoted wife Marsha, his children Debra (Bruce Greenspon) and
Seth, his grandchildren Asher Greenspon and Hildy Lou Lotstein, and his faithful canine
companion, Lexi. He is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Esther Lotstein, and his sisters
Barbara Benowitz and Sheryl Lotstein. The family extends deep gratitude to caregiver Mariloly
Stolarz, the aides from Jewish Family Services’ ComforCare, and Trustbridge Hospice for their
unwavering support.
A graveside funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, at 1:30 pm, at the Cemetery of
Congregation Agudath Sholom, 554 West Hill Road, Stamford, CT 06902.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Edward's memory to be directed to:
