Eileen Bertola (“Leenie”) age 76, passed away on June 7, 2018 at Hospice by the Sea, in Boca Raton, FL.
Leenie was born on June 5, 1942, in Buffalo, New York to Joseph and Bessie (Payson) Dozoretz. Leenie grew up in Buffalo, New York, she attended the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo and Cobleskill studying business. She worked at WNBC-Channel 2, in Buffalo for seven years, in the Real Estate industry in Virginia Beach for five years and over twenty years as Managing Broker for several locations of Coldwell Banker’s Real Estate companies in Boca Raton, Florida earning many National Real Estate Awards. Leenie was involved with The Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer, supports the Tri-County Animal Shelter and Boca Raton Regional Hospital. She had a love of cooking, dancing, and playing Canasta. Leenie married Ignatius Paul Bertola (“Iggy”) on September 5, 1971 in Buffalo and they were happily married for over 46 years. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Bessie Pauline Payson and Joseph Dozoretz and sister Beverly Jayne Dozoretz. She is survivied by her husband Ignatius Bertola: her daughter Liza Bertola, of Boca Raton, Florida; her stepson Michael (Kathy) Bertola of Lockport, New York; her brother Dr. Ronald I. (Beth) Dozoretz of New York City, New York; her nieces and nephews, Ina (Fred) Pockrass of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, Lisa (Michael) Giessert of Vero Beach, Florida, Shari Friedman and Renee (John) Strelitz of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Joshua Dozoretz and Brody Dozoretz of New York City, New York; and her grand dogs Luca and Nala. Services will be held on Sunday, June 10th at 11:00 AM at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 W. Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, FL. Family will be greeting friends and relatives at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to a charitable organization of your choice. She truly appreciates all the care, support and love she has received from her immediate family, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Leenie was a special woman, loved by all whose path she crossed, and will be truly missed by all especially her husband Iggy and daughter Liza, both of whom she loved with all her heart. Ask anyone how to describe her and it would be “fun-loving, generous and kind”.
