I have so many fond memories of my dearest friend Ellen.
I was fortunate to have spent time with her in the Machon in Israel in 1960, and later at Tel Yehudah, the Young Judaea camp. She was truly special.
We shared so many experiences together. We lived in Sde Boker with Paula and David Ben-Gurion—Ellen even insisted that Paula feed me because I was so skinny! We were both correspondents at the Eichmann Trial, a profound experience we carried with us.
Three years ago, Ellen recognized me at B’nai Torah and asked if I was Jerry Grossman—she picked up on my Rhode Island accent right away. That moment began an amazing renewed friendship, filled with frequent conversations and her wonderful daily emails.
I will never forget Ellen’s smile, intelligence, and perceptiveness. I will miss her forever, and I will always love her.

Ellen was one of my late mother's best friends. She was that collee friend that became a sister to her. She was there for my mom during the best of times and the worst of times. She stayed close to my father after my mom passed away in 2000 and we were fortunate to be in her life, and share our joys with her as our lives went on. I will always appreciate what Ellen did for my mom and our family. May her memory be forever a blessing. Much love - Craig Johnson (son of Barbara Johnson).
I loved working with Ellen on various projects at B'nai Torah Congregation. I cherish the morning spent with her in NYC when we both happened to be there at the same time to see Yair Keydar perform in Drag: The Musical. She'll always hold a special place in my heart.
I had the privilege of working with Ellen at the Jewish Federation. She was deeply committed to Jewish causes here and around the world. I will always remember her kindness and warmth. May she rest in peace.
Such a warm loving soul and bright light. B'nai Torah will not be the same without her. May her memory be for an eternal blessing...
