ERNEST S. WEINER's Obituary
Ernest Samuel Weiner, age 96, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2020. He leaves behind his wife of 74 years, Judith Weiner; three daughters Amy (Gary) Nathans, Peggy (Douglas) Smith, and Lisa Krasnow; five grandchildren: Aaron (Debra) Nathans, Jenny Nathans (Jon Abrams), Caroline (Nic) Smith, Ian Krasnow, and Julia Krasnow; and four great grandchildren: Lily and Charlie Nathans, and Izzy and Tori Smith. Ernest was raised in Clifton, NJ, graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, and served in Japan with the US Army Air Corps at the end of WW II during the occupation. While at Rutgers, he was a proud member of the Men’s Glee Club. He would never miss an opportunity to reprise many college songs. He raised his family for the first seven years in Paterson, NJ and subsequently in Glen Rock, NJ. He was a committed member of Barnert Temple (B’nai Jeshurun), having served as temple president.
Ernest devoted his career to textile manufacturing at M. Glasgall Silk Company and later as an officer of Weave Corporation, Denver, PA. He loved gardening, bike riding, tennis, sailing, ice skating, worldwide travel, bird identification, a good ear of NJ summer corn, and his beloved wife Judy’s pies! And we can’t forget those Saturday afternoons listening to classical, jazz and Broadway music on the “Hi Fi”.
Above all he was devoted to his family, having the utmost faith in each of us to find our own paths and potential in life.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 31 at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association or to the Ruth and Norman Rales Jewish Family Services, Boca Raton, Fl (https://ralesjfs.org).
