Evelyn Jacobsen's Obituary
July 18, 1918 – July 27, 2014
Evelyn Rose Jacobsen, 96, of Lantana, passed away on July 25, 2014. Evelyn was the daughter of J. Harry and Mary Majeau. She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Ohio State University in 1941 with a degree in education. In 1965, she married Jules Jacobsen and lived in Cresskill, New Jersey, until they retired to Florida. Evelyn and Jules golfed, danced, traveled the world together, and were generous patrons of the arts in Palm Beach County. She enjoyed reading, politics, and playing bridge. Over the past several years, Evelyn loved going on cruises with her devoted stepdaughter Barbara. Evelyn was fun-loving, positive, and was a life-long cat lover.
Evelyn was predeceased by Jules, who died in 2002. They were married for 36 years. Evelyn is survived by her sons Randolph Dakan and his wife, Roberta of Silverthorne, Colorado; Christopher Dakan and his wife, Theresa Kempenich of Portland, Oregon; her stepchildren, Richard Jacobsen and his wife, Janet of Norwood, New Jersey; Barbara Sherry of Boynton Beach, Florida; grandchildren Kevin Dakan and his wife, Pamela Morris of Warwick, Rhode Island; Garett Dakan of San Francisco; Scott Jacobsen and Lindsay Jacobsen, both of Norwood; and a newborn great grandson, Samuel Morris Dakan.
A celebration of her life was held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel and her ashes will rest at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-County Animal Rescue, 21287 Boca Rio Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33433, www.tricountyanimalrescue.com.
