EVELYN RAUCHMAN's Obituary
EVELYN RAUCHMAN
Evelyn Rauchman was a beautiful, gracious, and trusting soul, gifted with kindness and decency. She was born in Indianapolis in 1919 and lived through the Great Depression. In 1959 she moved with her loving husband Louis and sons Bob and Steve to Miami. She passed gently on January 29, 2018.
A friend to so many, she hosted endless games of mahjong, bridge and canasta, and was a voracious reader. Music was ever present in her life. She sang popular songs, and was an avid student of the piano and ballroom dancing. In her later years she was still an accomplished tap dancer. For her sons she was a dutiful den mother in Boy Scouts, a fan of Little League, and a schlepper to and from endless shops and soirees for her growing boys.
She loved sightseeing. Evelyn earned many commendations as a booking agent with Eastern Airlines, and with her husband Louis, traveled widely on five continents.
She was predeceased by her husband, and sister Louise. She is survived by her sons, her grandson Max, and nieces Arlene (Jeff) and Sue.
Evelyn showed grace and ferocious courage in confronting Alzheimer’s. Stranger in Paradise was one of her favorite songs. We know she is a stranger no longer. Peace and God be with you, Mom. We love you.
