Faye P. Himmelstein's Obituary
Faye Himmelstein, 93, of Wellington, FL, passed away on March 19, 2020. Faye was born on May 27, 1926, in Baltimore, MD, where she lived for many years with her husband Sydney. Faye and Sydney’s 74 year relationship began during World War II – the two were pen pals before meeting in person upon Sydney’s return from overseas. Sydney and Faye’s marriage was a storybook love story that set an example for their children and grandchildren. In the late 1950s, Faye and Sydney moved to Knoxville, TN where they raised their 3 sons. Faye worked as a bookkeeper for 25 years at the University of Tennessee, first at the bookstore and later for the dean of the Civil Engineering department. In the late 1980s, Faye and Sydney moved to South Florida.
Faye is survived by her sister, Rhona Morris. Faye was a devoted mother and is survived by her sons Marc (Pamela Aycock) Himmelstein, Alan (Steffi) Himmelstein, and Stevan (Carol) Himmelstein, her grandchildren Jason (Jill) Himmelstein, Philip (Alexandra Stern) Himmelstein, Amy (Matthew) Strauss, Molly (Dan) Hollenberg, and Jeremy (Jennifer Rottenberg) Himmelstein and her great grandchildren Max and Sam Himmelstein, Elizabeth Strauss, and Isabel Himmelstein. She was preceded in passing by her husband Sydney and her brothers Morton and Irving Poloway. A graveside service for immediate family will be held on Sunday in Baltimore, MD at the Moses Montefiore section of United Hebrew Cemetery.
