Ferol Sabghir's Obituary
Ferol Slate Lieberman Sabghir, 95, passed away at her home in Boca Raton, FL on December
14, 2021, 10 days before her 96th birthday. A graduate of Hunter College in New York with a
Masters degree from Rutgers University, she worked for many years as a biochemist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD before retiring and moving to Florida in the early
1990s. In her active retirement she and her husband traveled extensively, attended concerts,
visited with her family and friends, and she was active in the service organization Na’amat.
She was predeceased in 1982 by her husband Morris Lieberman of Silver Spring, MD. The
daughter of Matthew and Elva Wald Slate, Ferol was predeceased by her twin sister Aline
Slate, her sister Laurel Slate and her brother Matthew W. Slate.
She is survived by her husband Aaron Sabghir of Boca Raton, her son Benjamin Lieberman
(Dolores Paunil) and her stepchildren Judith Gannon, Jonathan Sabghir (Nadene) and David
Sabghir. She was also predeceased by her stepdaughter Naomi Zeiger. From her husband
Aaron, she acquired 18 grandchildren and more than 50 great grandchildren.
