FLORENCE (FLOSSIE) LEAVY's Obituary
FLORENCE LEAVY
On August 13, 2017, at the age of 95, Flossie left this life to be reunited with her beloved
husband of 53 years, George, her beloved daughter, Susan, and other dearly loved family
members and friends.
She is survived by her son, Peter H. Leavy, his wife Susan, and daughter Jane Leavy
Jablon, along with her adored grandchildren Brian (Tammy) Leavy, Jay (Michelle)
Leavy, Lisa Malitz and Alexis Jablon, her cherished great-grandchildren, Cory, Kyle,
Kara and Ryan Leavy, and Robert Miglionico, and her greatly loved great great-
granddaughter, Sofia Leavy. She is also survived by her dear sister Judy Denenberg and
her cousin Fern Stahl and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and cousins.
Florence was born in Manhattan, New York, obtained her undergraduate degree from
Bucknell University, and later obtained her master’s degree. She and George started their
family in the Bronx and later moved to Oceanside, Long Island. She had a successful 18
year career as a Spanish teacher at Oceanside High School. She and George retired to
Boca Raton in 1982. After retiring, she and George travelled to all comers of the world
with their many friends at Boca Lago and enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and cards, and
taking classes at FAU.
Special thanks are extended to the excellent doctors and their staff who cared for
Florence over the years, those at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and those with
Trustbridge Hospice.
Services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray
Beach, on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at 1 PM followed by interment at Eternal Light
Memorial Gardens 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach.
Donations in Florence’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or
Trustbridge Hospice or the American Cancer Society. .
