Florence Oshins' Obituary
Happily given her middle name of Victory, Florence was born 10 days after the WWI armistice on November 21, 1918. Florrie – her nickname – passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at the age of 97. She is survived by her husband Hal Oshins; sons, Martin, Steven and Edward Plotkin; 4 Grandchildren, Ethan, Dena, Rachel and Illana; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Jones and Langston; and her Sister Mildred (Mitzi) Lerner. She was preceded in death by her first husband Benard Plotkin and her younger Sister Elaine Bessell. Florrie began life in New York City, where she grew up with her two sisters and Parents: Pauline and Irving Jacobowitz. After WWII in 1947, the whole family; parents, sisters with husbands and children moved to Miami, FL. She kept busy raising her family and was active in Temple Beth David Sisterhood, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Later, she worked in the Financial Department of the Dade County, Florida, School Board. When Florrie and her first husband Bernie, retired, they moved to Delray Beach, Fl where Bernie passed away in 1982. Florrie got remarried to Harold Oshins in 1986, and the couple lived in Boynton Beach, FL and eventually lived in retirement homes in Palm Beach, County. She will be missed greatly by all who loved her. Graveside services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at Mt. Nebo/Miami Memorial Park, 5505 NW 3rd St, Miami, FL 33126.
